July 4th, 2011

Well you have made it through the first year of your trucking business as a owner operator and now it is the time to renew that truck registration, lets hope you have made some money by now. What you have to do is not exactly the same as the first time. You should now have some idea of the miles you did in the states you are applying for. In the event you are adding more state to the IRP schedule there will be information on adding new states in the IRP packet you should have received in the mail. The packet will be the renewal packet for your registration, it generally comes 4-6 weeks before your IRP expires. If you have not received it yet and it is due I would suggest contacting the IRP Office in your state. The phone number should be with the original information you received when you registered. They will be able to get you the application you need either by mail or you will have to drive and see them.

Edgeolite want to discuss what things you should keep in mind when redoing your application. Well you cannot drive with out insurance. So you will need proof of having the proper insurance. Your insurance company will give you a copy of what you need.you also need a paid receipt of your 2290 the Heavy vehicle use tax payment if applicable. This you should of received when the 2290 was paid for and will come in the mail. If you did not receive it ,you can call the local IRS office for more information. All these above items need to be completed as part of completing your IRP registration renewal. You need
proof that the tax was paid in full.

Now you have the renewal form to fill out some of it is already filled out for you if you are renewing it for the new year.
Some of the other information as I mentioned will ask you about the miles traveled for the prior year in the states you have chosen to drive in. You do have a choice of estimated (E) or actual (A) . If have already driven these miles it should
Be (A) for actual. If there is a states you have not driven in you put 0 . You simply YES for the states you want and NO for the states you do not want. In your packet there is a explanation of how to fill out your renewal application in more detail.

I want to touch on something that happened to me not to long ago, that nobody talks about and they should.
I get a call from my dispatcher telling me we have new account and I will deliver to a new state I have not gone yet and the load is scheduled to be there tomorrow morning. I say OK. I hang up the phone and 5 minutes later I remember I’m not permitted to drive into that state. I check my cab card or registration card in my truck just to confirm my thoughts and find out my hunch is right. #*X# what do I do now. I have to deliver a load tomorrow and I am not permitted to drive into that state.. So I did some research and found a company that can take of it for me by tomorrow morning. If you want to find out how I did this join Edgeolite.com trucking blog and newsletter to find out more.

Grand Canyon National Park Adds Edyne All Electric Truck

July 4th, 2011

All electric vehicles are starting to become more popular as the years progress. These vehicles require no fuel whatsoever other than what can come from standard outlet. Simply plug one in overnight and the next day it can be used for ten hours at a time or more, depending on the car. GreenGo Tek (GGT Electric) has produced a line of these electric vehicles that has been well treasured by many parks around the country, and they have slowly become a forced to be reckoned with in the electric truck world.

Because Edyne vehicles have become so popular, the Grand Canyon National Park has decided to add some Edyne vehicles to its fleet for the coming years. That means that the Grand Canyon will actually have eco friendly, fully electric vehicles moving around on it as park officials aim to clean up and show people around. These vehicles were not meant for speed or torque. They simply were meant for transportation. They can provide that though in a way that is unlike any other vehicle on the market. Grand Canyon National Park was able to acknowledge that and they opted for the green route.

There are many different vehicles that GGT has to offer beyond the work ones that the park decided to buy. For regular consumers, they have a range of standard vehicles that can be just as functioning as gas powered vehicles without the heavy footprint on the environment. They also offer a line of “retrofit” vehicles, which were originally gas powered and have been converted to electric power for energy saving purposes. No matter who you are or what you may need a vehicle for chances are there is a GGT option out there that will fit your needs just right.

For the Grant Canyon National Park, the needs were met with Edyne vehicles. You may discover that these could work for your business, or you may find that you are in need of something else. Whatever the case may be, you can take the inspiration from the park into your own life and start trying to live green today. Your car is a great place to start making a difference in your environment. Take a look around at your options and see just what eco friendly cars are available for you. You could be plugging yourself in tonight if all goes according to plan.
