Truck IRP And Registration by Edgeolite

Well you have made it through the first year of your trucking business as a owner operator and now it is the time to renew that truck registration, lets hope you have made some money by now. What you have to do is not exactly the same as the first time. You should now have some idea of the miles you did in the states you are applying for. In the event you are adding more state to the IRP schedule there will be information on adding new states in the IRP packet you should have received in the mail. The packet will be the renewal packet for your registration, it generally comes 4-6 weeks before your IRP expires. If you have not received it yet and it is due I would suggest contacting the IRP Office in your state. The phone number should be with the original information you received when you registered. They will be able to get you the application you need either by mail or you will have to drive and see them.

I want to touch on something that happened to me not to long ago, that nobody talks about and they should.
I get a call from my dispatcher telling me we have new account and I will deliver to a new state I have not gone yet and the load is scheduled to be there tomorrow morning. I say OK. I hang up the phone and 5 minutes later I remember I’m not permitted to drive into that state. I check my cab card or registration card in my truck just to confirm my thoughts and find out my hunch is right. #*X# what do I do now. I have to deliver a load tomorrow and I am not permitted to drive into that state.. So I did some research and found a company that can take of it for me by tomorrow morning.
